Synaesthesia

Synaesthesia is a neurological phenomenon that connects sensations that would be normally experienced separately. Some synaesthetes experience colours when they read a word or hear a sound. Others experience tastes, smells, or shapes. I chose to name my Blog “The Colour of Literature”. I like to think of Literature as a form of synaesthesia, where every genre is capable of producing and connecting different sensations to words given a particular form and content. Since we will be studying different genres in Literature, such as poetry, narrative, and drama, I found the title particularly relevant to our class.
